From statewide propositions to local measures and candidate races, the outcomes support housing opportunity, infrastructure, and homeowner protections.

Statewide Propositions: All Nine Passed

Voters approved all nine constitutional amendments supported by Texas REALTORS®. Here’s a quick rundown of why these results matter for you and your clients:

  • Prop 1 establishes long-term funding for Texas State Technical College infrastructure to grow the skilled workforce.
  • Prop 2 prohibits a state tax on realized or unrealized capital gains, protecting investments and encouraging economic growth.
  • Prop 4 dedicates sales tax revenue to the Texas Water Fund to support statewide water infrastructure.
  • Prop 8 bars future estate, inheritance, and gift taxes.
  • Prop 9 allows an exemption of up to $125,000 of income-producing business personal property from ad valorem taxes.
  • Prop 10 provides a temporary homestead exemption when a residence is completely destroyed by fire.
  • Prop 11 raises the school-district homestead exemption for older and disabled Texans to $60,000.

Of 16 endorsed candidates, 11 won outright and two advanced to runoffs, an 81.25% success rate. These leaders back private property rights, economic growth, and community development from Midland to Mesquite.
