Executive Update on NAR Settlement

This morning, the New York Times and other media outlets broke the news that the National Association of REALTORS® and the plaintiffs in the Sitzer-Burnett class action lawsuit reached settlement, pending court approval. As this news was breaking, your MetroTex leadership team was on a call with NAR President Kevin Sears and Chief Legal Officer Katie Johnson. The details of the settlement can be found at facts.realtor.

This is a difficult day for our industry as we grapple with potential changes to the way we do business. As you probably know, MetroTex itself is a named party in last year’s QJ Team, LLC, et al., v. Texas Association of REALTORS® lawsuit. We are in constant communication with our legal counsel to better understand how this recent development might impact us at MetroTex.

Right now, that answer is not yet wholly clear. We will continue to keep you up-to-date on the status of the NAR settlement and ongoing litigation in which MetroTex is named.

As always, your team at MetroTex is committed to delivering the education and services you need to continue to succeed. Thank you for trusting us with your membership. Please reach out to us directly at communications@dfwre.com with your questions and concerns. We are your advocate as we all move forward together.
