MLK Day of Service 2023

“Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Everyone knows Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as a leader in the fight for civil rights in the 50’s and 60’s. He was a leader in the movement to end racial segregation in the United States with his famous “I Have a Dream” speech leading his advocacy efforts.

Dr. King was assassinated in 1968, but it wasn’t until 1983 that a holiday in his name was established, and it wasn’t until 1986 that Martin Luther King Day became observed in the United States. The holiday is observed on the third Monday of January, which is the 16th this year.
