Advocacy

What is a committee?
Committees are groups of volunteer leaders designed to enhance the volunteer experience within an organization as large as MetroTex, and are tasked with advising the MetroTex Board of Directors on specific areas of the real estate industry. Some committees may have membership requirements or limits to how many members can participate. Committee members are expected to meet attendance requirements and are asked to sign a Code of Conduct and social media Policy to ensure alignment and professionalism.
How do I join a committee?
Applications for 2026 committee participation are now closed. To participate in 2027 committees, check back in early fall of 2026 for application instructions.
How many committees can I join?
You are invited to apply for any committee you are interested in and qualify for. We encourage you to choose the opportunities that truly match your passions and availability, since each committee does have attendance and participation expectations. Selecting the roles that fit you best helps ensure you can make a meaningful impact and get the most out of your volunteer experience.
What is the committee selection timeline?
For 2026 committees, applications must have been submitted by December 21. Notifications will be sent when committees are finalized by early January.
Missed the deadline to participate in 2026 committees? Applications for 2027 committees will be available in early fall 2026.
Advocacy
Advocacy focused committees and subcommittees act as the Association’s legislative and public-policy advisory bodies. Through advocacy, policy review, and regular engagement with elected officials, these committees work to protect private-property rights and ensure members are informed on issues shaping the real estate industry.
A MetroTex task force is currently in the process of finalizing the structure of our Advocacy focused committees.
Affiliate Committee

The Affiliate Committee unites affiliate members to create beneficial interaction with REALTOR® members and is responsible for planning and implementing networking and exposition events.
This committee has two subcommittees; the Lenders subcommittee and the Inspectors subcommittee. Subcommittee Chairs are appointed by the Chair of the Affiliate Committee.
Positions: Chair, Vice Chair, Members (unlimited members)
Open to: Affiliate Members (professionals from industries that support real estate, such as mortgage lenders, title agents, appraisers, and home inspectors)
Budget & Finance Committee

The Budget & Finance Committee is responsible for all fiscal matters of the association, including reviewing the budget and monitoring financial performance including the investment portfolio of the Association.
Positions: Chair (the association’s Secretary-Treasurer), Vice Chair, Members (20 members)
Member Composition:

-Board of Directors (5 members, serving 1-year terms)
-General Members (10 members, serving 2-year staggered terms)
Commercial Committee

The Commercial Committee serves the needs of members involved in commercial real estate by providing specialized education, forums, and networking.
Positions: Chair, Vice Chair, Members (unlimited members)
Open to: Members with demonstrable experience working in commercial real estate.
Community Outreach Committee

The Community Outreach Committee creates and promotes opportunities for members to engage and support the local community through service projects and events related to housing.

Global Business Committee
Committee
The Global Business Committee provides resources and education for members working with international clients and markets, and fosters relationships with global real estate organizations as well as the Association’s affiliated multicultural groups.

Opportunity & Innovation Committee

The Opportunity & Innovation Committee evaluates and recommends new revenue opportunities, investments, technology funds usage, and member benefits to ensure the association’s financial growth.
The chair and vice-chair of the OI Committee are required to serve as general members on the Budget & Finance Committee to ensure direct communication and alignment on financial matters.
Positions: Chair, Vice Chair, Members (up to 15 members)All positions serve two-year staggered terms, with a limit of two consecutive terms.
Open to: Members with expertise in finance, commercial real estate, technology, or business development.
Leasing & Property Management Committee

The Leasing & Property Management Committee focuses on issues impacting leasing and property management, including recommending products and services to enhance the value of MetroTex membership to property managers. The committee also plans and executes Leasing & Property Management Forums, at a frequency determined by the committee.

MLS Committee

The MLS Committee is the connection point between MetroTex members and the
NTREIN Board of Directors to address a diverse array of MLS issues including system functions, industry updates, concerns, and the enforcement of MLS and Key Service rules and regulations.
Committee members volunteer to serve on hearing panels, and are required to attend training prior to serving on a hearing panel.

Open to: All MetroTex members who receive their MLS services through MetroTex
NTYPN Committee

The North Texas Young Professionals Network (NTYPN) Committee engages members who are young real estate professionals or who are early in their real estate career by organizing opportunities for networking, education, and community involvement.

Professional Development Committee
Committee
The Professional Development Committee oversees the association’s educational offerings, ensuring a high standard of professional development and training for members.
This committee has two subcommittees; the Curriculum subcommittee and the Contracts & Forms subcommittee (this subcommittee educates members on changes to TREC and TR contracts and forms). Subcommittee Chairs are appointed by the Chair of the Professional Development Committee.

Volunteer Leadership Development Committee

The Volunteer Leadership Development Committee identifies and cultivates future association leaders, manages mentorship programs, and provides a network for leadership alumni.
This committee has one subcommittee; the TRLP Alumni subcommittee.
Positions: Chair, Vice Chair, Members (unlimited members)
Open to: Any MetroTex member who has graduated from a leadership program (e.g., TRLP) or has served in a leadership position at the local, state, or national level
