North Texas Cities Stand Out in New Growth and Affordability Ranking

North Texas is making a strong showing in a new ranking of the nation’s most affordable, fast-growing cities.

A recent study from MoneyLion placed several North Texas communities on its top 50 list, highlighting the region’s continued appeal for residents seeking growth, opportunity, and relative affordability. Texas led all states with 11 cities included, and North Texas claimed a large share of those spots.

Among the local cities recognized were Frisco, McKinney, Allen, Lewisville, Denton, Fort Worth, and Grand Prairie — a lineup that reflects both the strength and reach of growth across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

A Strong Showing for North Texas

Frisco earned the top spot overall, while McKinney ranked No. 4 and Allen came in at No. 6. Lewisville followed at No. 11, with Denton, Fort Worth, and Grand Prairie also landing in the top 50.

The study focused on cities with populations above 100,000 and evaluated both growth and affordability. To qualify, cities had to exceed the national population growth rate over both one year and five years while also maintaining average rent or mortgage costs below the national average.

Researchers also factored in median household income and estimated how much money residents have left after housing and living expenses. That combination helped several North Texas cities stand out, especially those pairing strong job markets and steady population gains with more attainable living costs than many competing metros.

What It Means for the Local Market

For REALTORS® across North Texas, the rankings reinforce what many are already seeing in the market. Buyers continue to look toward communities that offer room to grow, strong local economies, and a range of housing options.

What makes this ranking especially notable is that it is not limited to just one part of the region. From high-growth suburbs like Frisco, McKinney, and Allen to larger established cities like Fort Worth and Denton, the list shows that demand and momentum are spread across North Texas.

As the region continues to attract new residents and employers, rankings like this offer another reminder of why North Texas remains one of the most closely watched housing markets in the country.
