Texas Remains a Top Destination for International Home Buyers
International home purchases declined across the U.S. over the past year, but Texas continues to stand out as one of the country’s leading destinations for buyers from around the world.
Foreign buyers purchased $45.3 billion in U.S. existing homes from April 2025 through March 2026, according to the National Association of REALTORS®’ 2026 International Transactions in U.S. Residential Real Estate report.
While both the number of purchases and total dollar volume declined from the previous year, Texas remained a major destination for international buyers, accounting for 12% of all foreign home purchases nationwide.

Texas Ranks No. 3 in the Nation
Only Florida and California attracted a larger share of international home buyers during the reporting period.
The top five destinations were:
- Florida: 20%
- California: 19%
- Texas: 12%
- New Jersey: 4%
- Georgia: 4%
Texas’ continued position among the nation’s top destinations highlights the state’s ongoing appeal to buyers from outside the U.S.
Who Is Buying in Texas?
International buyers in Texas came from markets around the world, with Mexico, India and China representing the top three countries of origin.

According to NAR:
- 62% of Texas’ international buyers already resided in the U.S.

These numbers point to a diverse international buyer market that includes both people living abroad and recent immigrants or visa holders already residing in the United States.
