September 15 marks National Voter Registration Day, a nonpartisan effort to help eligible Americans register to vote. For MetroTex members, it’s a reminder to check your own registration and help clients find the information they need.
From city hall to the Texas Capitol to Washington, D.C., elected officials make decisions that affect our communities. Those decisions touch housing affordability, private property rights, infrastructure and the neighborhoods where we live and work.
Participating in the November election starts with making sure you’re registered.
Check Your Registration Before the Deadline
The deadline to register for the November 2026 election is Monday, October 5.
Start by checking your voter registration status through the Texas Secretary of State’s voter portal. Confirm that your information is current, especially if you’ve recently moved or changed your name.
Existing Texas voters can update their name or address online. Review the state’s requirements and submit any needed changes before the deadline.
Not registered yet? Follow the state’s voter registration instructions. If you use the state’s online fill-in application, you must print, sign and mail the completed form to your county election office. Filling out that form online alone does not complete your registration.
A Helpful Reminder for Past Clients
A move comes with plenty of details to manage. Voter registration is one more item to check as clients settle into a new home.
For MetroTex members, this is a practical opportunity to reconnect with past clients, especially those who have recently moved. Share the registration deadline and links to the state’s tools so they can check or update their information.
Keep the message simple and nonpartisan. A brief email or text can provide a useful reminder while keeping the relationship going beyond closing.
