A United Front on Capitol Hill: REALTORS® Deliver a Clear Message in 2025

Washington, D.C. buzzed with more than just politics this June. It echoed with the voices of thousands of REALTORS® from across the country, gathered for the 2025 REALTORS® Legislative Meetings. At the heart of the event was a powerful day of advocacy on Capitol Hill, where REALTORS® demonstrated once again the strength of a unified, grassroots voice.

On June 4, REALTOR® delegations fanned out across the halls of Congress, holding more than 500 meetings with lawmakers, a near-complete sweep of both the House and Senate. REALTORS® came prepared with a focused agenda: tackle housing affordability, protect property rights, and advocate for meaningful tax reforms.

The conversations were timely. With housing supply lagging behind demand nationwide, REALTORS® pressed lawmakers to support policies that encourage construction and improve affordability. The proposed “More Homes on the Market Act,” which addresses capital gains tax issues that discourage homeowners from selling, received particular attention. Delegates also urged the protection of private property rights and reinforced the importance of preserving independent contractor status for real estate professionals.

The Capitol Hill visits weren’t just about policy—they were about presence. The reinstatement of the bipartisan Congressional Real Estate Caucus, now boasting more than 90 members, was a tangible outcome of REALTORS®’ ongoing relationship-building efforts.

As the real estate industry faces ongoing market shifts and legislative changes, one thing is clear: REALTORS® are not sitting on the sidelines. In Washington, REALTOR® voices were heard and their presence, as always, was powerful.
