What is an Advisory Group?
Advisory Groups (AGs) are teams of volunteer leaders tasked with advising the MetroTex Board of Directors on specific areas of the real estate industry. They function like ‘mini Boards of Directors’ and may have membership requirements, with most being limited in the number of members. AGs with size limitations are typically supported by forums on the same topic. AG members are expected to meet attendance requirements and possess expertise or experience relevant to the AG’s mission.
What is a Forum?
Forums are committees designed to enhance the volunteer experience within an organization as large as MetroTex. Unlike AGs, Forums have no attendance requirements for maintaining membership and no limit on the number of members. Forums offer valuable education and discussions on topics relevant to their focus, while providing feedback to AGs and the MetroTex Board of Directors on how to better serve members and the community.
How do I join an Advisory Group or Forum?
See below to select the Advisory Groups and/or Forums you’d like to join. Applications for Advisory Groups are reviewed by the MetroTex Board of Directors. If you apply but are not selected, you will be added to the corresponding Forum. Applications for Forums are automatically approved.
What is the Advisory Group and Forum selection timeline?
Each year applications must be submitted by October 31st. Accepted applicants will be notified of their selections in early December.
If you apply for an Advisory Group and are not selected, you will be added to the associated Forum.
Which Advisory Groups and Forums can I join?
Some Advisory Groups have specific membership requirements – see the descriptions above for details. A small number, such as Budget & Investment and Technology & Benefits, are appointed by the Board of Directors and not open for applications. All Forums are open.
Why don't all Advisory Groups have a Forum?
Some Advisory Groups are dedicated to areas of association business, rather than the real estate industry, and are tasked only with advising the Board of Directors on those areas.
How many can I join?
You should apply for any Advisory Group or Forum you are interested in and qualify for. If you are not selected for an Advisory Group, you will be added to the Forum membership.

Affiliate Advisory Group
Advisory Group
The Affiliate AG focuses on enhancing Affiliate Member benefits and strengthening the relationship between REALTOR® and Affiliate Members through programming and networking. The AG also partners with the Technology & Benefits and YPN Advisory Groups to host quarterly Technology REACH Showcases.

Open to: Affiliate Members (professionals from industries that support real estate, such as mortgage lenders, title agents, appraisers, and home inspectors)

Budget & Investment Advisory Group
Advisory Group
The Budget & Investment AG oversees MetroTex’s annual budget and develops and monitors performance of investment strategies. The AG meets quarterly to review the investment portfolio, and more frequently between June and September to develop the budget.

Commercial Advisory Group & Forum
Advisory Group
The Commercial AG is charged with evaluating and improving MetroTex’s education, networking, communications, and services to support the success of commercial professionals. The AG plans and executes Commercial Forums at a frequency determined by the AG.
Positions: Chair, Vice Chair, Members (up to 7 additional members)
Open to: Commercial Real Estate practitioners with expertise in the commercial sector.
Forum
The Commercial Forum meets to discuss meaningful topics for commercial real estate professionals and offer feedback to the Commercial AG and the MetroTex Board of Directors about how to enhance service offerings to commercial practitioners.

Community Outreach Advisory Group
Advisory Group
The Community Outreach AG focuses on issues related to charitable and philanthropic opportunities that demonstrate the REALTOR® commitment to building communities. The AG advises on an annual charity of choice and executing fundraising and/or volunteer opportunities to support that charity.

Diversity & Fair Housing Advisory Group & Forum
Advisory Group
The Diversity and Fair Housing AG focuses on how MetroTex can best serve a diverse membership, and how REALTORS ® can better serve their communities. The AG strengthens MetroTex’s relationships with multicultural affinity partners, and seeks opportunities to increase participation from all members. The AG also plans and executes Diversity Forums, at a frequency determined by the AG.

Open to: All MetroTex members with experience in diversity and/or fair housing.
Forum
The Diversity Forum meets to discuss topics related to cultural awareness,
leadership development, and fair housing. It also provides feedback to the Diversity & Fair Housing AG and the MetroTex Board of Directors on how to better meet the needs of diverse members and communities.

Global Advisory Group & Forum
Advisory Group
The Global AG focuses on issues impacting global real estate, working to promote international real estate business and educate members on global opportunities and best practices. The AG also plans and executes Global Forums, at a frequency determined by the AG.

Open to: Global Real Estate practitioners with expertise in Global RE
Forum
The Global Forum meets to discuss present trends, opportunities, and
challenges in the global real estate market, including initiatives to help REALTORS® navigate the complexities of international real estate transactions and to build connections with global real estate markets. The Forum also offers
feedback to the Global Advisory Group and the MetroTex Board of Directors on matters impacting Global Real Estate.

Government Affairs Advisory Group & Forum
Advisory Group
The Government Affairs AG focuses on all issues related to government affairs, including recommendations for support of political candidates, issues mobilization opportunities, and public policy issues. The AG works closely with local, state, and national government entities to advocate for policies that promote homeownership and protect property rights. The AG also plans and executes Government Affairs Forums, at a frequency determined by the AG.

Forum
The Government Affairs Forum meets to learn about current legislative issues
and to gather input on policy positions. The Forum serves as a conduit between MetroTex members and policymakers, ensuring that the voice of the real estate community is heard in legislative processes. The Forum also offers feedback to the Government Affairs AG and the MetroTex Board of Directors.

The Leasing & Property Management AG focuses on issues impacting leasing and property management, including recommending products and services to enhance the value of MetroTex membership to property managers. The AG also plans and executes Leasing & Property Management Forums, at a frequency determined by the AG.

The Leasing & Property Management Forum meets to discuss the challenges
and opportunities in the leasing and property management sectors. This Forum provides a platform for members to share experiences, learn from industry experts, and provide feedback to the Leasing & Property Management AG and
the MetroTex Board of Directors.

MLS Committee
Committee
The MLS Committee is the connection point between MetroTex members and the
NTREIN Board of Directors to address a diverse array of MLS issues including system functions, industry updates, concerns, and the enforcement of MLS and Key Service rules and regulations.

Professional Development Advisory Group

The Professional Development AG oversees the creation and delivery of educational programs and resources to help MetroTex members enhance their skills and knowledge. This group identifies emerging trends in real estate education and ensures that Metro Tex offers relevant and high-quality professional development opportunities. Members have the opportunity to monitor classes, review course content, and evaluate mock presentations from prospective instructors.

The Technology and Benefits AG’s mission is enhancing value to MetroTex members by proactively identifying, developing, and recommending a comprehensive range of technology, benefits, and services. This AG stays abreast of technological advancements and industry innovations, ensuring members have access to cutting-edge tools and resources. The AG also partners with the Affiliate and YPN Advisory Groups to host quarterly Technology REACH Showcases.

TRLP Alumni Advisory Group

The Texas REALTORS® Leadership Program (TRLP) Alumni AG focuses on reconnecting graduates of the TRLP program. The AG provides opportunities for continued leadership development, networking, and engagement in Metro Tex activities, fostering a strong community of leaders within the real estate industry.
The AG assists with TRLP class interviews, TRLP class graduation, and TRLP recruiting events.

Volunteer Leadership Advisory Group

The Volunteer Leadership AG nurtures and develops future leaders within MetroTex. The AG identifies potential leaders, provides training and mentorship opportunities, and ensures a strong pipeline of qualified individuals ready to step into leadership roles within the organization.

Open to: By Board of Directors appointment only. To be eligible, you must have done one of the following: served as a Volunteer Leadership Development mentor; served on a Texas REALTORS® committee, task force, or Board of Directors; served one year on a local REALTOR® Association Board of Directors; served one year on the Board of Directors of a qualified NAR Affiliated Institute, Society, or Council.

YPN Advisory Group & Forum

The Young Professionals Network (YPN) AG focuses on the needs and interests of real estate professionals early in their career by organizing events and programs to develop leadership skills, network with peers, and identify opportunities for association leadership growth. The AG plans and executes YPN Forums, at a frequency determined by the AG, and partners with the Affiliate and Technology & Benefits Advisory Groups to host quarterly Technology REACH Showcases.

Open to: All MetroTex members with an interest in supporting real estate professionals early in their career.
Forum
The YPN Forum meets to discuss issues relevant to early career professionals in
real estate. The Forum provides a platform for sharing knowledge, experiences, and ideas, and for offering feedback to the YPN Advisory Group and the MetroTex Board of Directors to grow REALTORS® professionally.
