Message from MetroTex President Terry Tremaine on the Death of George Floyd

The shocking, senseless death of George Floyd weighs heavily on our nation, and our REALTOR® family. Our deepest condolences are with the Floyd family and other families who share this pain and sorrow.

As indicated in a statement by NAR President Vince Malta, “…fair housing, equality and inclusion are among NAR’s most cherished values…” and MetroTex stands fierce in guarding them. MetroTex is committed to leading the way on policies that address racial injustice and that build safe and inclusive communities. Building the future starts with equal access to housing and opportunity for all, and we must strive to break the barriers. As strong proponents of discrimination free communities it is crucial that we continue to work towards inclusion not exclusion for all of our neighbors throughout North Texas.

Through all levels of our organization, we’ll be seeking ways in which to continue our message of intolerance for racism, and seek partnerships with other organizations to BE the difference throughout the communities served by our members.  As REALTORS®, along with our industry partners, we are all responsible for being active participants in promoting equality, inclusion, and acceptance. We welcome your input and thoughts on how we can improve our communities together, and put a stop to injustice.

Acknowledge what’s happening.  Ask what’s needed. Act on those requests and through your own acts of kindness.

May we all be a part of the solution.

Sincerely,

Terry Tremaine

2020 President
