TREC Adopts New Voluntary Form

The Texas Real Estate Commission met February 12, and relevant highlights for REALTOR® members are below. Visit TREC’s website for all meeting materials.

Notice to Purchaser of Special Taxing or Assessment District

TREC adopted the Notice to Purchaser of Special Taxing or Assessment District, a voluntary form for sellers who live in a water district to use when disclosing special tax assessments. Recent legislation replaced the different disclosure notices related to tax assessments made by water districts with a single notice. Water districts are required to post their own notice online (if required by the Tax Code to have a website); however, if the district does not have the notice on its website, a seller may use this form to complete the required disclosures. You can find it in the Blank Forms section of texasrealestate.com, and it has been sent to zipForm and other form-fill vendors.

TREC Staff to Review Rules for Proposed Changes

The commission voted to allow TREC staff to review four rules for possible readoption, revision, or repeal, pursuant to Section 2001.039, Texas Government Code. The following rules will be reviewed, and any changes would be up for proposal at the next TREC meeting:

  • 22 TAC Chapter 531, Canons of Professional Ethics and Conduct
  • 22 TAC Chapter 533, Practice and Procedure
  • 22 TAC Chapter 534, General Administration
  • 22 TAC Chapter 541, Rules Relating to the Provisions of the Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 53

Next TREC Meeting in Dallas Area

TREC is taking its next meeting on the road. The meeting will be held on May 20 at 10 a.m. at the Dallas Marriott Las Colinas in Irving. The commission invites REALTOR® members to come and earn CE credit for their attendance. As a reminder, license holders can earn up to 4 hours of CE credit per two-year renewal cycle by attending any single commission meeting in person.
